Today my hubs left for a 3 week TDY. Last night we ate out. we used to go out to eat for last night and first night back dinners all the time, but I've become difficult to please at restaurants over the last few years, wondering what nastiness they are hiding in their food. (the glutens!! glutens everywhere!) I don't like my kids eating a bunch of hydrogenated-soy-oil-fried-garbage and washing it down with artificially flavored corn syrup water. i know. im a bit extreme. point is, we don't go out much anymore, but last night i wanted to. we went to cheeseburger in paradise, because a burger (sans bun) sounded delicious and is usually easy enough to get gluten free. Well, there was an hour wait (i know, we tried to get a table for 6 people at 6 pm on a sat night. in my defense, i live in omaha. theres only 1 million people in the whole city and surrounding areas. i didn't really think they would all be at one restaurant) and so we took our little buzzer, and armed with our radius, started walking the mall. we thought there was a game stop a few doors down, but in its place was an olive oil store. it was beautiful inside. yes, i was dying to go in. it looked like a specialty wine tasting place. only olive oil and vinegar. but i didn't express any of this, as of course it would be impossible to go in there. but connor, almost 13, actually jumped up and down "yay!! look olive oil!! lots of kinds! do you think they give samples?"
the hubs looked at me and said "do you see what you've done to these kids?"
yes, and im damn proud of it.
(but really, its just connor. earlier this week miriam ate her lemon salmon with ketchup smeared all over it.)

:) awesome! Ketchup is half the ingredients for pink sauce, which makes all things fishy yummy.
