art
about a week ago we got the kids a brand new huge bucket of sidewalk chalk. when you live in a place like nebraska and you can only spend maybe 4 mo a year outside because the rest of the year is too hot, humid, rainy, cold and/or snowy, then one big bucket should last the year. but on thursday i went outside to find that the kids had systematically broken every piece. "oh well," i thought, "they can color with them broken." oh, but they weren't finished. after brunch this morning, when i looked down from the deck to the patio i saw that about half of the bucket had been crushed into powder! apparently it is great fun to stamp pieces of chalk into dust, or, when barefoot, to take daddy's heavy bocce balls and use them like hammers to take your vengeance out on the chalk that has so wronged you. they even showed me how its done...slam, slam, slam..."its fun, mom" so no the patio is one big art project...if smashing things until they crumble can be called art. =>
