alex talking

about a month ago i wondered about alex, because my friends kids his age were talking more than he was. each of them had a list of 15-20 words that they could say. alex said 'dada' and 'dog' and 'mama' when under stress and 'all done.' and that was it. but all of a sudden he has had an explosion of words! unfortunately, they all sound just like dada and dog! (dog, by the way, is dog-dog, which sounds a lot like dada) so this is alex's list of words, most of which sound exactly the same:

dada - dad
mam- mom
dog dog- you guessed it
da dum (when pointing to his diaper- bum bum (meaning--change me)
da dun (when in his high chair)--all done
da- yes
guc guc/ cuck cuck- tickle
na na- ni-night
du dai- outside
mo dum- more gum (give me candy)
da (when pointing)- that right there
and he babbles like this : huh dada huh dada huh dada huh dada huh dada huh dada huh dada on and on and on and on

so we are hopeful that he will one day learn the benefits of letters besides 'd' but for now, its working for him.

...which is also obvious from the "milking the air" hand gesure that accompanies the word, I guess.
