alex knows the sounds of the numbers up to five. he likes to repeat them. he particularly likes the sound of two and five. he always cheers when we get to five when we are counting. most of the time he so prefers two and five that i say "one" and he says "two" then i say "two" and he says "five" and i say three and four and he says "two" and then i say five and he cheers "FIVE!"

i didn't think they were meaningful to him at all, i mean, he is only 1....but the other day he asked for something (i don't remember what, a cookie maybe?) and i said "okay, you can have 1" he immediately answered "Five!" i laughed and said "no just one" so he shrewdly responded "two." his negotiating was successful, "okay, alex you can have two."
